VIIIth VAPES Conference “DIABETES AND RARE ENDOCRINE DISEASES” - Announcement

The VIII^th VAPES Postgraduate Course & Conference “DIABETES, OBESITY AND RARE ENDOCRINE DISEASES” will take place on 03 - 05 April 2025, at Saints Constantine and Helena, Varna, Bulgaria.

After the success of the previous ISPAD/VAPES meetings (2011 to 2023), local organizers (Varna Pediatric Endocrine Society, VAPES) aim to attract any interested pediatric endocrinologists, pediatricians, endocrinologists, postgraduate trainees, medical students and nurses in 2025. Since the development of rare endocrine expert care is accelerating, we would also like to attract members of multidisciplinary teams from Bulgaria and surrounding countries – geneticists, surgeons, pathologists, psychologists, neurologists. The special topic started from 2023 - transition and transfer to adult care of diabetes and rare diseases would be further developed. The event will be endorsed also by EndoERN.

The Programme concentrates again on different aspects of diabetes in children, adolescents and young adults, with a special emphasis on the use of contemporary technologies. Rare endocrine diseases, rare diabetes and obesity as well as emphasis on multidisciplinary and transborder care are part of the Programme. Our distinguished speakers are Aneta Gawlik (Poland), Mohamed Magnie (Italy), Paul van Trotsenburg (The Netherlands), Mathew Johnson (UK), Arianne Dessens (the Netherlands), Alyson Boyce (USA), Hedi Claahsen-van der Grinten (The Netherlands), and others.

Oral and poster sessions will be organized with the possibility to discuss own research with colleagues. Abstracts dead-line is March 1^st, 2025, and details about abstracts requirements will be published by 01.01.2025. A specialized session for endocrine nurses and allied health professionals is planned as well as the traditional Lay Public lecture.

Saints Constantine and Helena is the oldest Bulgarian sea resort complex, 8 km north of Varna. It is situated in a fine old park with bay laurel, cypress, pine, sycamore and oak trees.
